Transit connections and parking

With connections to light rail and to communities north, east, and south of Lake Washington, Stride will transform your regional transportation options. Sound Transit will share station areas with King County Metro, Community Transit, and other local transit services for easy transfers and connections across the region.

Sound Transit will relocate the Renton Transit Center and build it adjacent to the existing Renton Park-and-Ride at Rainier Ave S and S Grady Way. This location will better serve regional Stride S1 Line and local King County Metro bus services. Sound Transit and King County will share more information about the service changes and how routes will change from the transit center’s current site in Downtown Renton to its new site next to the Renton Park-and-Ride when we get closer to the Stride S1 Line start of service, anticipated for 2028.

Sound Transit, King County Metro, and the City of Renton have coordinated closely throughout the Stride S1 Line project’s development to ensure that the new Renton Transit Center serves the needs of local and regional transit riders.

Sound Transit will offer new parking options for Stride and other public transit services starting in 2034 and beyond. Parking improvements include:

  • Expanded parking at the existing Kingsgate Park-and-Ride Lot.
  • New parking at Renton/NE 44th Station and at Renton Transit Center.
  • New parking at the Lake Forest Park Town Center.
  • Additional parking at the Kenmore Park-and-Ride Lot, potentially delivered by King County Metro.
  • New parking in downtown Bothell.
