Designs include:

  • Rebuilding and modifying the existing western island within the Burien Transit Center for the future Stride station.
  • Adding battery-electric bus charging infrastructure on the western island for Stride bus charging layover.
  • Completing roadway improvements to add a bus-only lane along SW 148th St, connecting onto SR 518, for Stride operations.
  • Adding new lighting within the Burien Transit Center and at SW 148th St and SR 518.

Tukwila International Blvd Station.

Designs include:

  • A long-term plan to partner with WSDOT for design and construction of an inline Stride station on SR 518 with transfers to the Link light rail at the Tukwila International Blvd Station.
    • The inline station improvements include: bus only lanes, BRT platforms and passenger amenities, and stairs and elevators leading to pedestrian bridges. The pedestrian bridges will connect into the mezzanine level of the existing light rail station and to neighborhoods to the south of SR 518.
  • A temporary station at the existing Tukwila International Blvd Station’s transit loop will be in place until the future inline station is built. Stride will share bus bays 2 and 3 with King County Metro with a limited set of Stride improvements.

Designs include:

  • Renton Transit Center (Rainier Ave S and S Grady Way):
    • Constructing a new transit center, adjacent to the existing South Renton Park-and-Ride, for both the Stride S1 Line and King County Metro bus service.
    • Constructing two bus islands made up of eight bus bays, most of which will be under a canopy cover. Bus bays will serve Stride, King County Metro RapidRide, and local buses.
    • Adding battery-electric bus charging infrastructure for King County Metro buses.
    • Adding a four-way signalized intersection at Rainier Ave S and Hardie Ave SW to support bus operations.
    • Building pedestrian safety improvements such as new sidewalks, lighting, and multi-use paths.
    • Continuing the existing two-way bike lane along Shattuck Ave, connecting the future transit center’s northern multi-use path.
    • Constructing an interim surface parking lot, which will be replaced by a five-level parking garage in the future.
    • Adding stormwater bioswales , vegetation, and plantings.
    • Adding a bus-only lane on the on- and off-ramps from SR 167.

Designs include:

  • Adding a Stride station at the Bellevue Transit Center with transfers to Link light rail at Bellevue Downtown Station.
  • Updating the existing ST Express bus layover bays for Stride at 110th Ave NE between NE 10th St and NE 12th St with:
    • Four bus layover bays along the western shoulder of 110th Ave NE for Stride S1 and S2 buses.
    • An additional mid-block crossing south of NE 11th St to improve pedestrian safety in partnership with the City of Bellevue.
    • Battery-electric charging infrastructure.
